Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve Yacht Club

About Us

The aim of the Club remains as originally intended, to provide high quality and good value sailing and social opportunities for its members.  The Club welcomes past and present members of the RN, RNR, RNVR, RM, RMR and RFA to apply for Club membership, with a more limited opportunity for applicants without a Services connection to join.

The RNVR Yacht Club is a thriving yacht club, with members participating in a wide and varied programme of sailing and social events. These include various weekend and week-long cruises mostly in the Solent, on either side of the Channel and on the East Coast, plus a biennial Caribbean cruise where members enjoy island-hopping on chartered yachts.  The events currently planned are shown on the Club Programme page and photographs of some of the recent events are shown on the Photo Gallery page.

Besides sailing events, the Club organises a range of social functions, which include North West and South West Regional dinners plus the Club Annual Dinner and Christmas Party both of which are held in London.
Club members now have access to a First 40.7 racing cruiser, VOLUNTEER, at special charter rates for enjoyment and training purposes. VOLUNTEER is owned by Volunteer Yachting Limited, a company financed by RNVR Yacht Club. To see more details about VOLUNTEER and how to book, see here.

Training is strongly supported and Club members enjoy organised Club training weekends in the UK and Mediterranean.  Some financial support and the benefit of group discounting is available for training at RYA accredited sailing schools.

There are now 170 yachts on the Club register and a membership of 400 including some 30 overseas members.

Members have had the privilege of wearing the undefaced Blue Ensign on authorised yachts since 1965.
